Capability Leader

Garth is a senior environmental scientist based in Palmerston North and has worked for Landcare Research since 1992. His career spans over 28 years in resource management, land resource assessment, national environmental databases, GIS applications, and indigenous research.

Hana (Ngäpuhi, Te Roroa, Te Ätihaunui a Päpärangi, Ngäti Tüwharetoa) (she/her) is doing a PhD in Mäori health, with supervision from Donna (Käi Tahu, Käti Mämoe) (she/her) and Papaarangi (Te Rarawa) (she/her)

Hera Ngata-Gibson is of Te Aitanga a Hauiti people of Uawa (Tolaga Bay) on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand, and lives with her family in Anaura. Community and environmental advocate, Hera led the charge in calling for an independent inquiry into land use in the region after the devastation wrought by recent weather events. She is a member of Mana Taiao Tairāwhiti, a group which represents farmers, landowners and conservation workers seeking to change outcomes when adverse weather events occur in the region.

Centre Administrator

Honorine Franswah assists with all the administrative functions of Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga, including the Centre’s reception and secretarial duties.  Honorine obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Madras and brings substantial administrative experience from nearly 20 years involvement in the manufacturing sector in India.  More recently she provided administrative support at The University of Auckland prior to taking up her role at the Centre.
